What we do on Advocacy
With an aim of being a major programme in advancing Africa Women agenda in the agriculture sector, EWA advocates for a political commitment of Head of States to empower women in Agriculture, maintain strategic partnerships, mobilize donors, and change restrictive laws, programs, and practices. Several tools are being used to support our advocacy work, such as:
- Convening of High-level advocacy meetings together with Champions, partners, and women in agribusiness prior to the African Union Summits;
- Data sources and research related to women in the agriculture sector
- Promotion and advocacy tools targeting rural women initiatives
- Building a partnership between strategic partners and women cooperatives
- Insurance of adequate funding for programs and initiatives that support women in the agriculture sector
- Greater awareness by key stakeholders at national and regional levels on the plight of women in African agriculture;
- The emergence of key policy statements, policies, legislation, and other administrative initiatives to entrench women empowerment in African agriculture;
- Increase voice and participation of women in local agricultural communities and value chains; and
- Greater participation of young women as active participants in the agricultural value chains.
